Logo Design for FLOC for SEND: A Visual Identity Built Around Connection
Ola JakubusOne of my favourite parts of freelance design is working with people who are building something meaningful. Katie Sharp, founder of FLOC for SEND, approached me to create a logo for a new community supporting parents and carers of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
FLOC stands for Freeing Loneliness, Offering Community. Founded in 2025, the organisation brings families together through peer-led meetups, giving parents and carers a space to connect with people who understand their experiences.

Finding the right direction
The brief was to create something memorable and nurturing, giving families a sense of understanding and hope. I developed several initial concepts, exploring different approaches to the lettering, colours and imagery.
We were particularly drawn to the energy and movement of the painted birds, which felt distinctive and full of character. From there, I refined the concept, balancing the expressive illustrations with clear, professional typography so the logo could work across everything from social media and the website to printed materials and email signatures.

A happy client
It was a pleasure working with Katie to bring her vision to life, and I'm so pleased with the final result. Here's what she had to say:
“Ola is a wonderful designer and great person to work with. We are thrilled with our logo and font! Highly recommend.”
Whether you're starting something new or ready to give your existing brand a refresh, I'd love to hear about it. I work with small businesses and independent organisations to create thoughtful, distinctive designs that feel right for them.
